Rockstar of the Week: Dr. Waheed
Everyone wants to make a difference in the lives of others. For some, that means working in the public sector where they can easily serve others. For others, they are able to make a difference by pursuing a career in medicine. Dr. Imran Waheed here at HealthCARE Express is one of the latter. “Medicine appealed to me because I felt I could make a difference in people’s lives on a daily basis and critical thinking and problem solving would keep me challenged,” Dr. Waheed said. “Plus I am awful at math and there wasn’t much math involved,” he added jokingly.
Dr. Waheed completed his residency training at UAMS AHEC in Pine Bluff, AR. He is board-certified in family practice medicine and is also the regional medical director of Central Arkansas! “I think my proudest achievement would be finishing my residency,” he said, “Making the transition from a medical student to a Doctor was very challenging. It taught me responsibility and humility at the same time.”
HealthCARE Express is proud to have had Dr. Waheed on our staff for 6 ½ years. Dr. Waheed loves interacting with his awesome team and every patient that walks through the doors of his clinic.
Being a doctor is hard work, but Dr. Waheed says he tries to live as stress-free of a life as possible. How does he do that? By surrounding himself with positive people, of course! In his free time, Dr. Waheed enjoys hanging out with his friends and family, playing tennis, working out, detailing cars, and eating food. “My love of food actually requires me to work out to avoid obesity,” he joked. He also loves watching movies and listening to music. So much so that he claims his HCE team members are probably sick of hearing him belt out random movie quotes.
