Maumelle Hometown Hero: Judy Keller
We would like for you to meet this week’s Hometown Hero: Judy Keller!
Judy Keller is the Director of Economic Development of the City of Maumelle.
In her current position with the City of Maumelle, she had the privilege of assisting companies with locating to Maumelle and supporting existing industries with expansions and other needs. From helping Dr. Kyle Skinner locate to the city to supporting Dillard’s, Kimberly-Clark, and many others - no matter how big or how small, she considers each one a great accomplishment. She loves the people in Maumelle and how they come together to support each other. She also loves walking the trails and wetlands in the city.
Judy is grateful and humbled to have been a part of so many great successes. She worked in the Consular Section at the American Embassy in Maputo! She loved being the first contact many people had with the United States government and providing them with a positive experience, as well as helping Americans who were far from home.
In her personal life, she feels her greatest accomplishment is her daily walk with God and being able to provide support for her family through every phase of their lives, whether they live near or far.
Judy loves a fun afternoon or evening of sitting around the table with family and friends, while playing cards, Bananagrams, or other “board” games. She especially enjoys it when she beats her husband! She also enjoys being outdoors and seeing wildlife in their natural habitats.
FUN FACT: Judy lived in sub-Saharan Africa for almost ten years. She lived in Malawi for three years and Mozambique for almost seven years and visited many of the surrounding countries, including South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe, and Uganda. The wildlife there is incredible! Also, she has a sourdough starter that is 24 years old, which she started in Maputo!
