Ditch Those Capri Suns!
It’s lunchtime. Your child slams back a couple of Capri Suns, and by the time they get back to class, they’re buzzing. You may not have thought about it when you packed their lunch that morning, but a single Strawberry Kiwi Capri Sun has 16 grams of sugar! Classroom disruptions abound as your kiddo surfs on that sugar high of strawberry kiwi goodness, and you’re sure to get a letter to the parent when school is over for the day.
Want to keep this from happening? We have a healthy and just as tasty alternative!
It’s hard to get kids to drink healthy, non-sugar filled drinks. Sure, we’d love for them to drink water, but let’s face it… it’s hard enough to get adults to drink water. You can make it easier, though, if you add in a little fruit! Make them a bottle of strawberry kiwi infused water to take to lunch instead of those sugar-laden metallic pouches.
All you need are a handful of ingredients:
- 1 peeled and sliced kiwi
- 6 hulled and sliced strawberries
- 10 mint leaves or 1 sliced lemon (depending on your taste)
- ½ gallon pitcher for water
It’s as simple to put together as it is to stab one of those bright yellow straws into a Capri Sun pouch! Simply place the sliced fruit in the bottom of the pitcher and then fill with water. Let the mixture sit for about 20 minutes so the flavors can blend, and then this tasty H2O is ready to go!
