Blanchard's Hometown Hero: Emerie Gentry
We would like for you to meet this week’s Hometown Hero: Emerie Gentry!
Emerie has lived in this community her whole life. She loves the small-town side of things, like going to the bank/store and being called by name. She also loves that, " Shreveport is big enough to get lost in and small enough to be found,” and that, “When it's needed, the town rallies and does what's needed to make it a better place." Emerie is happily part of that initiative, taking part in many organizations that strive to help improve the community. She has been an ARTini Committee Chair for many years, a part of the Northwest Chapter of the Public Relations Association of Louisiana, a member of the Rotary Club of Bossier City, the secretary and Education Committee Chair of the Shreveport-Bossier Attractions Association, the vice president of the Lagniappe Chapter of the Business Networking Internation, and a member of the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce.
Three years ago, Emerie opened her own business: Lagniappe P.R.I.M.E. There, Emerie strives to showcase her business partners’ strengths through public relations, marketing, and events. She started her businesses because opportunities were continuously presented to her that she couldn't turn down. “My mother is a business owner. It was a matter of perfect place and time,” she explains.
Go check out Emerie’s favorite local businesses: Shreveport Farmers Market and Abby Singer’s Bistro. She tries to support local as much as she can!
Emerie has two children that she loves spending time with. Her eldest is attending LA Tech this fall, and her youngest is attending middle school this year!
